If I buy tickets, can I use them to market my business or as prizes in a raffle for my club/charity/business?

No. Only official partners of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games are permitted to use tickets for promotional purposes. Tickets used contrary to the terms and conditions may be invalidated and the holders denied access or removed from venues.

Can I get a refund if I change my mind?

Please choose your tickets carefully. Payment is processed immediately upon submitting your ticket order. Once submitted it is not possible to change, cancel or return your tickets.

We are developing an online ticket management program that will allow spectators who have purchased tickets, but cannot attend, to post their tickets for re-sale. A similar option is being explored where spectators will be able to donate tickets they cannot use to a local charity. The ticket management system will be available in fall of 2009. Ticket holders must abide by the ticketing terms and conditions. The reselling of tickets through any source other than vancouver2010.com is prohibited and may result in tickets being invalidated.

Why won’t my tickets be delivered until December 2009/January 2010 ?

Once venue seating configurations have been finalized in late summer of 2009, ticket sales will close for a period of time. Specific seat locations will then be assigned for all tickets purchased up until that point. Once specific seats have been assigned, the printing of tickets will then commence in preparation for their delivery in December 2009/January 2010.

How many different sessions or Olympic Experience Packages (OEP) can I select when completing my ticket request?

You may request a single session or package (Olympic Experience Package) once per application either as your first choice or as an alternative. Once a session or package has been selected as a first choice, it cannot also be selected as an alternate. Requests in excess of 50 tickets are subject to review and may not be accepted. It is important to note that, as a request cannot be altered once it has been submitted, your selections should be made carefully as your Visa will be charged automatically for all tickets you have successfully been allocated. You will receive notification of your final allocation by e-mail in November 2008.

How can I increase my chances of getting tickets for the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games?

There are a number of  ways you can increase your chances of securing Olympic Winter Games tickets:

  1. Submit a ticket request between October 3 and November 7, 2008.
  2. Because high-demand events are the most likely to be over-subscribed, consider requesting a mix of high-demand and other events to increase your chance of receiving tickets.
  3. Broaden your Olympic experience Attending the Olympic Winter Games is a once-in-a-lifetime experience and we encourage you to consider a variety of sports or venues. Olympic Experience Packages (OEP) are a great way to sample different Olympic events. OEPs will also be allocated before single session requests.
  4. Choose an alternate You have the option to tell us your second choice, or alternate, for each session you select. Selecting an alternate allows the system to look for tickets to a different session or package in the event that your first choice is unavailable, thereby increasing your chance of securing tickets. Click here to learn more about alternates.
  5. Cascade your selections Cascading allows the system to look for seats in the next lower-priced ticket category if the selected price category is unavailable. For example:
  • Your selection: Price category A for the women’s curling semifinal
  • System searches for availability in category A first
  • If category A is no longer available the system will automatically look for availability in category B, and so on

By checking the “Cascade” box on your selections, you are increasing your chances of being allocated tickets to that session, particularly when you select cascading and category A tickets.  If you select category A tickets but are not allocated these tickets, each lower-priced ticket category can also then be considered. If you select category B tickets with cascading, category A tickets will not be considered during the lottery because only lower-priced ticket categories can be considered.  If you are only interested in attending a session at a specific price level, then cascading is not recommended. Cascading does not apply to OEPs.

I am a Canadian resident. How can I purchase Paralympic Winter Games tickets?

The ticket program has been developed with simplicity, fairness and accessibility in mind. People residing in Canada will be able to purchase their tickets online through vancouver2010.com. Residents who do not have access to the internet will be able to purchase by phone by calling 1-800-TICKETS (1-800-842-5387). Ticket box office locations, which will open prior to the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games, will also sell Paralympic Winter Games tickets.

PLEASE NOTE: Buyers should be aware that tickets bought from any unauthorized source may not be valid and may not be accepted for entry to 2010 Winter Games venues. For information on authorized and authentic ticket sales, visit the Real 2010 page of vancouver2010.com.

Is there a limit to how many Olympic tickets I may order?

Yes. The maximum number of tickets you can purchase for most Olympic sessions and packages is eight. A ticket limit of 4 has been applied to a selection of sessions and packages for which we anticipate very high demand. A limit of 4 different sessions per transaction also applies. Applying ticket and session limits helps to ensure that as many Canadian residents as possible are able to secure tickets.

Yes. If you have chosen to take advantage of cascading, and have applied for sessions which take place at venues with both assigned grandstand seating and standing room tickets, you may be allocated standing room tickets if assigned seating tickets are not available.

What is the status of tickets to the nightly Victory Ceremonies?

Approximately 30,000 tickets will be available for each nightly Olympic Victory Ceremony at BC Place — 10,000 will be free through a program that will be unveiled in 2009, while up to 20,000 will be sold for $22. Nightly Victory Ceremonies will pay tribute to the athletes as the International Olympic Committee (IOC) recognizes the day’s accomplishments in the presence of the Olympic Flame. Following the medal presentations, the athletes’ triumphs will be honoured with a celebration concert featuring renowned entertainers.
