Vancouver 2010 hosts second annual sponsor workshop

Representatives of Olympic and Paralympic Games sponsors from across Canada and around the world are gathered in Vancouver for the next two days for the second annual Vancouver 2010 Sponsor Workshop, hosted by the Vancouver Organizing Committee for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games (VANOC).

The workshop provides sponsors with important information on VANOC’s progress and milestones across all areas of the organization. The Sponsor Workshop is also designed to assist the sponsors in developing their pre-Games marketing and activation strategies while preparing for hospitality and operations during the 2010 Winter Games.

Participating sponsors for the 2010 Winter Games include Worldwide Olympic Partners (Coca-Cola, Atos Origin, GE, McDonald’s, Omega and Visa), National Partners (Bell Canada, Hbc, RBC Financial Group, GM Canada, Petro-Canada and RONA), Official Supporters (the British Columbia Lottery Corporation and the Royal Canadian Mint) and Official Suppliers (Dow Chemical Canada Inc., EPCOR Utilities Inc., Haworth Canada and Workopolis). Also in attendance are VANOC’s non-commercial and sport partners.

Through their commitment and support, the Vancouver 2010 sponsors provide the foundation for the staging of the 2010 Winter Games and contribute to every participating athlete.

“We’re delighted to be hosting more than 180 participants from across Canada and around the world, including Belgium, Spain, Korea and the United States,” said Dave Cobb, VANOC executive vice president, revenue, marketing and communications. “We’re also joined by key marketing staff from the International Olympic Committee, and the Organizing Committees for Beijing 2008 and London 2012. All in all, it promises to be a valuable information exchange session.”

Workshop highlights will include an update from Vancouver 2010 Chief Executive Officer John Furlong, presentations by VANOC representatives and tours of the Vancouver and Whistler competition venues.

VANOC is responsible for the planning, organizing, financing and staging of the XXI Olympic Winter Games and the X Paralympic Winter Games in 2010. The 2010 Olympic Winter Games will be staged in Vancouver and Whistler from February 12 to 28, 2010. Vancouver and Whistler will host the Paralympic Winter Games from March 12 to 21, 2010.
