Paralympic School Day
Vancouver 2010 Paralympic School Day has returned!
In May, 2009, elementary schools in British Columbia will have an opportunity to host a Vancouver 2010 Paralympic School Day. The Vancouver Organizing Committee for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games (VANOC) has created the Paralympic School Days in an effort to raise awareness of the Paralympic Games and Canadian Paralympic athletes. Complete the application form and e-mail it by April 10, 2009 to VANOC at paralympicschooldays@vancouver2010.com, or by fax to 778.328.2011.The program capacity for the program is approximately 15 schools which will be selected on a first-come-first-serve basis taking into account ability to reach as many school districts as possible during the month. Canadian Paralympic Committee, It'sThe Real Deal
The Petro-Canada Paralympic School Program, It’s the Real Deal, is a free online teachers’ resource. The program offers multi-media lessons, lesson plans, athlete interviews, fun activities and photos for students in Grades 4-8. It aims to raise awareness of Paralympic sport and athletes with a physical disability. Educators can participate in a teacher’s-only discussion board, provide feedback about the program and submit their own student activities to share with fellow teachers. More >>
