Films for Change
Films for Change is a template aimed at secondary level students that provides a way to integrate National Film Board documentaries on environmental issues across a range of classroom contexts and subject areas. Learning outcomes of Films for Change are compatible with curricula across Canada.
The template consists of five different activities that lead students from initial awareness, to deeper understanding, to taking action on environmental issues. While it makes sense to approach the activities sequentially, each one has been created to stand on its own. With adaptation to individual classroom contexts, a teacher can effectively use just one or a few of the five activities with students.
Films for Change proposes three phases to environmental leadership:
1. creating an awareness of global environmental issues
2. developing a deeper understanding of environmental issues
3. implementing environmental action projects in the classroom
