CanadaCODE Educator’s Guide
Canada CODE gives people who live in Canada a collaborative way to share who we are with each other and the world. Show the world what we're made of — you can now upload short stories and photos about your daily life and neighbourhood. As an added incentive, your students’ stories could be part of selected digital collages that will hit the big screen during the 2010 Winter Games.
Use this guide to provide tools to integrate Canada CODE and digital storytelling into your curriculum (canadacode.vancouver2010.com). In addition to the educator’s guide, the National Film Board of Canada (NFB) has created digital storytelling tips at canadacode.vancouver2010.com/NFB-ONF to be used in conjunction with the guide.
The Vancouver 2010 Organizing Committee for the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games (VANOC), in collaboration with the NFB and 2010 Legacies Now, have developed this educator’s guide to help Canadian teachers connect Canada CODE activities to their curriculums through art-infused education.
The National Film Board of Canada will be offering hands-on educational workshops to bring the Canada CODE, the 2010 Winter Games Cultural Olympiad’s digital edition, into your classroom. To learn more about these workshops contact: nfbmediathequeonf@nfb.ca
CODE Screen 2010
Art teachers, inspire your students with Canadian art.
Canadian art. Your screen. By the end of the Games, CODE Screen 2010 will have showcased the work of more than 100 of Canada's finest creators, including recipients of the Governor General’s Award for Visual and Media Arts. This is an excellent opportunity to bring the art gallery to your students’ computers.
New exhibitions will be released every two weeks and will run through to March 2010 during the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. Teachers and students can download an application to have CODE Screen 2010 one click away and be alerted when these new exhibitions are posted.
