Bon Voyage Sumi
Our favourite Vancouver 2010 Paralympic Winter Games mascot has been flying to schools around the country, inspiring students and educators to engage in the passion and spirit of the Paralympic Games. Schools have been documenting their special activities with Bon Voyage Sumi through photos and in writing, eventually forwarding Sumi and the stories of his adventures to friends at a different school. Sumi's adventures are also being posted here on /EDU.
Sumi carries a passport with him and invites each school to record their school name, location, and e-mail address on one of the 15 stamps — to share their Bon Voyage Sumi adventures with other communities.
When Sumi's passport is full with at least 15 exciting adventures he will make his way back to Vancouver. Bon Voyage Sumi’s stories about his travels will then be given to Canadian Paralympic athletes arriving in Vancouver and Whistler in March 2010.
If your school wants to participate in Bon Voyage Sumi, you can download your own Sumi to colour yourself, as well as his passport, or log in to our teachers’ forum to connect with other schools who want to share Sumi with you.
Have a Sumi that you want to say Bon Voyage to? Log in to our teachers’ forum to find a school that would be interested in hanging out with Sumi.
