The Vancouver Symphony Orchestra and conductor Bramwell Tovey team up with Haitian-American crossover artist Daniel Bernard Roumain, or DBR, for an electric evening of classical music with sensational rock and hip-hop arrangements. DBR is a classically trained virtuoso violinist, composer and arranger whose extraordinary talents and richly amplified violin explore the limits and possibilities of classical and pop music. This concert will open with a special performance of Canadian composer John Weinzweig’s Divertimento No. 1 for Flute and Strings, which won an Olympic silver medal at the London Games in 1948.
