Australian photographer-storyteller William Yang returns to his cultural roots in China but finds himself a stranger in a motherland he never knew. He takes us from the streets of Beijing, where electronics superstores jostle with echoes of the Cultural Revolution, to the sacred mountain of Huang Shan. Nicholas Ng’s haunting live score for the erhu and pipa provides the soundtrack for this journey of reflection on the meaning of culture and belonging.
