CODE Motion Pictures

CODE Motion Pictures will showcase short films from Canada and around the world that reveal the power and frailty of the human body in motion as it faces the challenges of sport, art and life itself.

Human bodies in motion is the theme bridging the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games with national and international audiences.

CODE Motion Pictures will be right where audiences can access it - on public screens and online during the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.

Short films from some of Canada’s finest filmmakers will be part of the sights and sounds of the Olympic Winter Games.

CODE, the Cultural Olympiad’s digital edition, will be presenting CODE Motion Pictures, a themed strand of short films showcasing human bodies in motion. The series of films will be featured on towering high-definition screens in Vancouver and Whistler, and on computer monitors around the world, during the 2010 Winter Games.

The theme of the short films is the human body in motion; its power and frailty in facing the challenges of sport, art and life. The movies range from art films to physical comedy, and include compelling stories of courage and endurance from dance to athletics.

In partnership with Telefilm Canada and the Association of Provincial & Territorial Film Funding Agencies, CODE has commissioned the production of 16 two-minute shorts from filmmakers across Canada. It’s an opportunity for Canada’s filmmakers to show the world what they’re made of, and for audiences across the country and around the world to enjoy the full range of Cultural Olympiad programming.
