Hot new projects include:
- Chromeo and Team Canada DJs
- Hard Rubber: Drum and Light Festival
- Jamming the Networks: Cross-Country Performance
- Kid Koala: Short Attention Span Audio Theatre
- Mike Relm and Addictive TV
Code Live is an 18-day, landmark event with visual art exhibitions, music and performances fuelled by digital technology and audience involvement. It begins February 4 and runs through February 21:
EmilyCarr University of Art and Design: : A perfect location for family-excursion-style arts experiences. Think science centre dates arts fest. Projects include:
- We Are Stardust (George LeGrady, Canada/United States): A two-screen projection installation that juxtaposes deep space as captured by a NASA telescope and the viewer’s location in the gallery via an infrared camera.
- Electromode: An exploration of electronic fashion focusing on Canada’s pioneer designers in the field. Using microcomputers, sensors and other responsive material, Electromode allows audiences to interact with clothing in a whole new way.
- Glisten/Hive (Julie Andreyev, BC): Use mobile phones to engage in a worldwide discussion about our modern relationships with animals. Designed to mimic the patterns of a beehive, it creates a swarm of ideas about our fascination with furry critters the world over.
The Great Northern Way Campus: Its size and location make it the perfect destination for expansive installations, late-night concerts and dance experiences. Projects include:
- Paparazzi Bots (Ken Rinaldo, United States): Camera-carrying robots give the audience 15 minutes of fame.
- Vested (Don Ritter, Alberta/Berlin): Put on a very special vest and take an architectural world tour.
- Dune 4.0 (Studio Roosegaarde, Netherlands): Walk through a pathway of LED lights that react to your every move.
- Eco-Art (Brendan Wypich, Ontario): An artwork creates a symbiotic relationship between a fully automated greenhouse and the single orchid it houses. Co-presentation with the Canadian Film Centre.
This is an unprecedented opportunity for you to be a part of a landmark celebration that explores digital creativity.
