Media

VANOC appreciates the Canadian news media as an important means of informing the public about the Canadian Olympic/Paralympic Movements and the performance of Canadian athletes at Olympic and Paralympic Games. VANOC has issued guidelines regarding the use of the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Emblem by Canadian news media, which allows use of the Emblems in an editorial manner, but restricts the creation of any business association between their media business, and/or their advertisers with, the Olympic and Paralympic Movements.

Copies of VANOC’s media guidelines can be obtained in the Media Centre section of vancouver2010.com and by contacting mediarelations@vancouver2010.com.

These Guidelines are not legal advice and any information contained herein does not in any way limit VANOC’s legal rights and remedies. If you think you may have infringed VANOC’s rights, or you are proposing to do something which you think may infringe VANOC’s rights, we recommend that you seek independent legal advice. Please also see the 2010 Olympic/Paralympic Brand Management disclaimer for more information.

Infringement Assessment: Despite the use of the Official Emblem of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, this would be considered as unlikely to infringe.

Infringement Assessment: Despite media encouragement to cover and provide commentary on the 2010 Winter Games, because the use of the Brand in question is featured in a corporate advertisement that creates an unauthorized association between the television station (non-2010 Winter Games marketing partner) and the Olympic/Paralympic Brand, this would be considered as likely to infringe.
