Anti-Doping

Real sport is pure human energy.

Real sport is trust and respect for the system.

Real sport is respecting yourself and your fellow competitors.

Real sport is competition on a level playing field.

With this in mind, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the Vancouver Organizing Committee for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games (VANOC) is implementing a worldclass anti-doping program.

Vancouver 2010 Anti-Doping Program Mission

  • Deliver a state-of-the-art doping control program at the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games to ensure all athletes can compete on a level playing field.
  • Leave a legacy by developing and implementing a leading anti-doping program focusing on pre-Games information and awareness programs to promote the values of doping-free sport.
  • To hold doping-free Games.

Olympic athletes in all sports will be selected for doping control any time and anywhere during the period of the Olympic Games.

The IOC and VANOC will conduct more than 2,000 tests during the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games.

The on-site World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) - accredited Doping Control Laboratory at the Richmond Olympic Oval is the most sophisticated in the history of the Games, and will analyze all urine and blood samples.

We encourage you all to take full advantage of the educational resources provided to increase your anti-doping knowledge and awareness in advance of the Vancouver Olympic 2010 Winter Games.
