Newfoundland and Labrador

A Land by the Sea

It’s a land of strange and startling beauty, a land of sunshine and storms, carved from miles of coastline. The world is discovering that Newfoundland and Labrador is a place unlike any other. A land inhabited by warm-hearted people, Newfoundland and Labrador is a spectacular tourist destination, a place to invest and do business, and a great place to live, work and raise a family.

About Newfoundland and Labrador

Newfoundland and Labrador is Canada’s easternmost province. It’s where north meets south, a duality expressed in the two land masses that comprise it, and in the combination of two great currents off its shores in the North Atlantic Ocean.

From the treeless tundra of the Torngat Mountains in northern Labrador to the southern tip of the Grand Banks, there is a diversity of nature just waiting to be explored. Outdoor activities include hiking along the coast, diving to see shipwrecks, canoeing among whales and icebergs, and watching seabirds.

With such a large north-to-south land range comes a variation in climate. The Island of Newfoundland is in the temperate marine zone, neither too hot nor too cold. Labrador’s climate is drier and colder, especially in winter, great for skiing and snowmobiling.

The national and provincial parks and ecological reserves contain the oldest multi-cell fossils in the world, rare plants and geological wonders.

It’s not all about the outdoors, though; the people are the real stars of Newfoundland and Labrador. Witty, open and welcoming, we love to have a good time and for visitors to join in.

There’s a lot to explore in Newfoundland and Labrador. Start planning your vacation here by finding out what there is to see and do.
