How do I schedule an interview with a VANOC spokesperson?

Please contact our Media Relations department and let us know the media outlet you represent, your deadline and as much information as you can on the topic in which you are interested.

Can you send me some general information on the 2010 Winter Games?

For all general questions, we encourage you to review Information 2010 which provides an excellent overview on the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. You might also like to sign up to receive one of our regular e-mail updates about key Games topics or subscribe to our news release RSS feed.

I’d like to be added to your news release distribution list. How can I do that?

Just send an e-mail to our Media Relations department let us know if you’d prefer to receive English or French releases, the media outlet you represent and your contact details and we’ll be pleased to include you on our list.

I’d like to visit Vancouver and Whistler. Can you provide transportation and accommodation?

While we are delighted with the amount of interest that media from across the world have shown in the 2010 Winter Games, unfortunately we are not able to assist with these costs. If you do visit the province and are working on a story on the Games, we will be pleased to provide information and schedule interviews with VANOC spokespeople where possible.

How do I apply for accreditation to cover the Games as a member of the press?

The written and photographic press, including technicians, support staff and non-rights holding radio and television personnel, are accredited to the Olympic Games under the generic category “E.”

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) established the press accreditation quotas for the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games and has informed each participating National Olympic Committee about its press accreditation allocation.

The first stage of the press accreditation process for the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games is scheduled to begin in October 2008. At that time, each National Olympic Committee will distribute the specific forms and documents on behalf of VANOC to accredited press within its territory.

Please refer directly to your National Olympic Committee for further information on the process.

The accreditation process for the Paralympic Games will be released at a later date.

How can a radio or television broadcaster apply for accreditation for the 2010 Winter Games?

A small number of non-rights holding radio and/or television broadcast journalists will receive accreditation in the “ENR” press category in order to cover the 2010 Winter Games as a news event.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) is directly responsible for the allocation of all ENR accreditations, which are not included in each National Olympic Committee’s quota. More information about the application process and the news access rules are available at www.olympic.org.

Press with an ENR credential will have access to the Main Press Centre (MPC). At the competition venues, ENRs will have access to venue media centres, press tribunes and mixed zones but may not bring in any camera equipment, recording devices or other technical equipment.

I write for a website. How do I apply for accreditation?

The accreditation process is the same for all press organizations, whether traditional printed media or online.
