What is Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED)?

The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System is the most respected standard for developing high-performance, sustainable buildings in North America. It was created to define “green building” by establishing a common standard of measurement; to promote sustainable-building design practices; and to recognize environmental leadership in the building industry. The standards are rigorous; any building that achieves a LEED rating is an environmentally responsible building.
