Decision-Making Scope on ICI Commitments

VANOC is often held publicly responsible for implementation of all 37 ICI commitments, but only about half of them fall within our decision making scope. The rest, such as homelessness, involve public policy issues that exceed our authority or capacity to act. Feedback in the past year from our Board of Directors and our Board Advisory Committee on Sustainability Performance strongly recommended that VANOC’s sustainability reporting only track results on the ICI commitments where we can make direct contributions.
