Building Opportunities with Business Inner-City Society (BOB)
Funded by the City of Vancouver, the Province of British
Columbia, the Government of Canada, a portion of Bell
Canada’s Olympic sponsorship, and other contributions
from the private sector, the Building Opportunities with Business
Inner-City Society (BOB) works with residents, community groups,
government agencies and businesses to create economic opportunities
that strengthen the social well-being, health and security of
vulnerable populations.
BOB has set the following targets through to March 31, 2009:

Skills Development Opportunities: 800 individuals and $4.8 million in training

Business Development Opportunities: $2.6 million
Both Bell Canada and VANOC are represented on BOB’s
Board of Directors.
In November 2007, BOB, the City of Vancouver and Millennium Southeast False Creek Properties Limited (the developer constructing the Olympic and Paralympic Village Vancouver and surrounding area) signed a Community Benefit Agreement that will provide 100 jobs, $15 million of business development opportunities and $750,000 in training opportunities to inner-city residents and businesses.
