Game Plan 2008
Do you live, work or play close to a Vancouver 2010 venue?
If the answer is yes or you’re not sure, you may have questions about how the Games venues will operate on a day-to-day basis; how long it will take for a venue to return to its normal operations after the Games; what legacies will be left behind; and what it means for you as a resident, neighbour, facility user or business.
Game Plan 2008 is the first in a series of 2010 Games information sessions offering an increasing level of detail as the 2010 Winter Games approach. The session focuses on the activity associated with pre-Games and Games-time operations in areas such as venue and transportation operations, security and public safety.
Though a number of operational plans are still being developed, Game Plan 2008 will give attendees a snapshot of daily life at and around the venues. The information sessions will highlight the unique opportunity that residents of venue neighbourhoods live in and how to best experience the action at the heart of the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Game Plan 2008 offers the community an overview of current Games planning and insight into how a venue operates before, during and after the Games. You will also discover the many ways to participate in the excitement of the 2010 Winter Games.
Each meeting will feature a formal presentation lasting approximately 45 minutes. An open house will follow the presentation where you’ll have the opportunity to ask questions and provide feedback and comments to our planning teams, as well as our municipal and transportation partners.
The series of Game Plan sessions will continue through 2009, offering an increasing level of operational detail to stakeholders and citizens as new information becomes available.
Although we don’t have all the answers yet, our goal is to provide you with current information, a timeline of when to expect further details and resources to access online updates.
Details of future Game Plan 2008 sessions in other Games-venue neighbourhoods will be announced in the coming months.
