Walter Sieber

Recently re-elected Vice President of the Canadian Olympic
Committee, Walter Sieber has been involved with the organization in
this capacity since 1982. His current term extends through the 2010
Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver and Whistler.

Director General of Sports for the Montreal 1976 Olympic Games,
Sieber draws on an impressive background in sport administration.
He has worked as an advisor or board member for many Olympic Games,
including those in Moscow, Seoul and Calgary, and was chef de
mission of the Canadian team for the 1992 Olympic Games in
Albertville. Sieber has also been involved in all the Canadian
Olympic Games bids since 1980, serving as vice president, sport for
both the Toronto (1996) and Quebec City (2002) bids. He also sat on
the IOC working commission that analyzed and prepared the report on
the bid cities for the 2012 Olympic Games.
Apart from his enormous contributions to the Olympic Games in
Canada and internationally, Sieber is recognized as a leading
authority on the Fédération Internationale de
Football Association (FIFA), for which he has managed many World
Cup and world championship events.
Fluent in English, French and German, Sieber studied
administration in Switzerland and physical education at
l’Université de Montréal. He and
his family currently reside in Montreal.
