Michael Phelps is Chairman of Dornoch Capital Inc., a private
investment company.
Michael Phelps
Prior to joining Westcoast Energy, Phelps served as Crown
Attorney, Province of Manitoba; Special Advisor to the Minister of
Justice in Ottawa; and as Executive Assistant to the Federal
Minister of Energy, Mines and Resources.
Currently, Phelps is a senior advisor to Deutsche Bank and
serves on a number of boards including Canfor Corporation, Canadian
Pacific Railway, Duke Energy, Fairborne Energy Trust and The
Vancouver General Hospital Foundation. In addition, he is chairman
of the board of the GLOBE Foundation of Canada and Kodiak
Exploration Limited.
Phelps was inducted as an Officer of the Order of Canada in
2001. For many years, he has championed the support and leadership
of Canadian athletes and is a strong advocate for Alpine
Canada.
Born in Montreal, Phelps is fluently bilingual and holds a B.A.
and an LL.B. from the University of Manitoba. He completed his
master of laws from the London School of Economics in 1971, and has
received honourary doctorates of laws from the University of
Winnipeg (1992) and Simon Fraser University (1994).
Phelps lives in Vancouver with his wife and three daughters. His
passions include heli-skiing, golf and Canadian history.
