The Vancouver International Centre for Contemporary Asian Art (Centre A) has a mission to push the boundaries of contemporary art practices that explore the construction of Asian and Asian-Canadian identities and cultures.

To accomplish this mission, Centre A has a mandate to promote the work of young, emerging and established Canadian artists and bring to Canada the work of leading artists from abroad. It extends beyond the role of presenting exhibitions to include residencies, performances, symposia, publications and educational programs. It is a gathering place that encourages a wide range of meetings and conversations, both formal and informal. It collaborates actively with universities and other visual arts organizations. It contributes to the development of its immediate neighbourhood. It networks nationally and sends Canadian artists and curators abroad. It maintains a substantial library and involves students in production and research. Maintaining rigorous artistic, curatorial and scholarly standards, Centre A enjoys an international reputation for excellence and innovation.
