Bhangra:authentic

City of Bhangra 2008 continues to evolve with exciting new events created to encourage more audience interaction through exploration of Bhangra as well as other folk dances and music. Art exhibits, workshops, a panel discussion, drum circle, open-air performances and a Bhangra competition round out the programming for Canada’s largest Bhangra festival.

bhangra:authentic aims to bridge the gap between the modern interpretations of Bhangra and its traditional roots. It showcases the origins of the dance form and its requisite instruments, allowing the public to understand and appreciate Bhangra’s roots and the essence of its core. This original presentation brings together performers and teachers of folk music and dance in an informative and interactive stage production.
